It all began 26 years ago…
Meet Jorge
Hola, and welcome to Montiel Painting!
I’m Jorge Montiel, owner of Montiel Painting. I bring more than two decades of residential painting experience to Whidbey Island, with a career that began in Seattle, where I trained with Seattle Painting Specialists before continuing to develop my craft with American Home Painting.
If you’re a Whidbey local, you’ve probably heard the question, “So, what brought you to the Island?” For us, it started with a visit.
A close family friend retired to Whidbey in 2013 and invited us to visit. Before then, my wife and I had never even heard of Whidbey Island—but it didn’t take long for us to fall in love with it. The scenery, the slower pace, and the sense of community made us realize this was where we wanted to raise our family. In 2015, we left city life behind, bought a home on the Island, and made Whidbey our home.
What began with a few side projects and word-of-mouth referrals gradually grew into the family-run business Montiel Painting is today. Family is at the heart of everything we do, and that carries over into the way we treat our customers. I take pride not only in delivering quality craftsmanship, but also in building lasting relationships with homeowners and treating every project with the same care and attention I would give my own home.
When I’m not painting, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family or out on the water fishing and crabbing. Before becoming a painter, I was also a musician, and I still enjoy bringing out the instruments—especially for family music and karaoke nights.
After raising three daughters here with my wife, Whidbey Island has become much more than the place where we live. It’s our home, our community, and the place where we built our family and our business. I’m proud to have the opportunity to care for the homes that make this Island special—one home at a time.
